Road trip....

OMG.....It's Saturday and I am awake at 5am, showered, dressed and out the door by 6am...

Where am I going?

From one side of Missouri to the other and back again? Why? To pick up this little darling granddaughter from her Mommy. And keep her until Tuesday. My son-in-laws father passed away early Friday morning. They took off Thursday night taking Abbie with them, but decided that she really needed some Grandma time, so she is MINE! All Mine! LOL It's up to 70 here so hopefully we will get to the park tomorrow to play on the swings. She's still a wee bit young to get up the slide...
She looks just like her mother at this age.

On the way up to Kansas City, DH spotted a sign for a quilt shop. He mentioned it to me, but knowing we would have granddaughter on the way back, I quickly put it out of mind. DH didn't... and on the way back he pulled a little detour and we ended up here -

It sure didn't take long to do some quick grabbing and I came home with these..

A couple of half yards...

And some fat quarters. One of these will be included in my package for my Spring Swap that Linda is hosting.

And halfway home, I realized THIS -

But I didn't worry, cause DH reminded me that I have another pair here at home just like it....LOL

It is 4pm and we are finally home. Abbie is playing and talking up a storm. Of course I have NO IDEA what she is saying...lol I can hear Mommy and Daddy and she says ruff, ruff if you ask her what the puppy says.

No sewing will be going on this weekend. Abbie will be sleeping in the sewing room...

Happy Sewing to you,

You really can't make this stuff up.....

Conversation between my oldest daughter and her oldest daughter as my oldest daughter is reading my blog....

G (granddaughter) - "Grandma!"

K - (her mother, my daughter) - Yep, this is Grandma's website where she shows her sewing.

G - "That's not her house!"

K - I know, it's a house like one by her and she likes it.

G - "Cool! Where did she get that orange phone?"

K - It's not her phone. It's just a picture.

G - "Oh. Does she have the gmail? Is she on the dot com?"

K - Well, she has an email address.

G - "WHAT??? I didn't know that. Tell her my gmail. Tell her it's grXXXX. Tell her to send me a message."

K - Ok. I will.

G - "Yeah, tell her all that. But don't tell her my password."

So sad....

A house that looks just like this one sits in the middle of a field not too far from me. I have watched it the last 3 years. I love old federal style homes. To me they are stately and calm. I can't figure out why this one sits empty. I wonder who built it. I wonder why did they decide not to live there. Did they have to move away? It sits smack in the middle of what used to be a corn field.

I would love to open the green shutters and let the breeze in. I would love to see inside...

The dot....

Phone rings....

Me - Hello

Mom - I need some help.

Me - What do you need?

Mom - I turned it on and there is a dot in the middle.

Me - You turned what on?

Mom - You know...the computer.

Me - Ok, you only have a little dot of light?

Mom - No, I have pictures and everything.

Me - So what is the problem?

Mom - The dot won't move.

Me - Do you NEED the dot to move?

Mom - Well, of course I do.

Me - What do you want the dot to do?

Mom - I want it to move.

Me - Why?

Mom - Cause it's the mouse dot.

Me - Oh, so the dot is actually a hand? Your mouse isn't working? It's not moving?

Mom - Yes.

Me - Replace the battery.

Mom - There's a battery?

So quick....

We had a wonderful time. We arrived at the condo Friday around noon and started hauling in all of our sewing stuff. This included 3 sewing machines, 3 suitcases, 3 coolers, 2 LARGE plastic bins of "stuff" and a 6ft banquet table. Whew!! We got all set up, had a quick lunch and started sewing.

Miss Nancy and Ann sewing away...

Here are some projects we finished.
We each made a zipper bag using a Lazy Girl pattern. Of course, Miss Nancy made two!! She is an over achiever..aren't you Miss Nancy? Who took this photo? It is really out of focus. Sorry about that. I wouldn't get up off the couch and must have forgotten to tell the photo taker to change to the closeup setting... Oh well, you should be able to double click to make it bigger and see it really blurry!! LOL

I am still in OP mode...
I made this triple irish chain. I am surprised it is almost done. I sewed so many strips wrong that I spent more time unpicking then sewing. It needs a blue border and then some matching binding... I ran out of blue...

I also made this stacked coins. I got the pattern from Crazy Mom Quilts blogspot. This is just one of many tutorials listed on her sidebar. It uses two charm packs and some background and it went together so fast.... Would make such a quick baby quilt..

I also got the final border on my OP quilt, but apparently didn't get a photo of it. Will have to do that when I unpack...
And this is Anne's Yellow Brick Road in Aussie fabrics. She had a name for it, but I can't remember right now what that is. Anne, leave a comment with the name, OK? She is working the next 3 days, so we probably won't hear from her until Thursday!! She likes it so much she was sad to think she had to give it away. We told her to give it to her DH and then she could keep it....

THIS JUST IN - Anne named her quilt "Road to Australasia".......
Here is Miss Nancy's bag. All pinned and ready to sew...Miss Nancy LOVES TO PIN..We call her the Pin Queen. She must own thousands of pins and uses every one of them...LOL It's a free Moda pattern call Sweet Treats. You can find it here. Click free patterns on the top right hand side and the Sweet Treat Bag pattern.

Anne is doing the free BOM here...and finished the first stitchery... Hey Anne, you are two blocks behind!! Just so you know!!... Ha Ha, I told you I was going to use the photo with the BIG HANDS!! LOL

We decided to leave Sunday early enough to visit the quilt shop on the way home, but we were too early so we stopped here - None of us had ever been to this store, in fact it is the only one I have ever heard of, so we weren't sure what to expect. It turned out to be kind of a cross between an old time Dime Store and a cheap small WalMart. LOL

And then we spotted this!! In the middle of nowhere!! A Pat Sloan book! We left it there hoping that it will inspire someone to start quilting.. Look at Miss Nancy doing her famous Vanna impression...LOL

And so quick, we are back...
to laundry
and kids
and grocery shopping
and real life..
I'm ready to go back!!

Thanks for stopping by....

Discovery.....

I made a great discovery today. I decided to check ONE MORE TIME!! I got out my Ott Light, laid one layer of scraps from the OP quilt and one layer of fabric that I bought yesterday.

THEY MATCH!!!
How Cool Is That???

I have my borders all cut and ready to take on Retreat tomorow. Leaving bright and early at 8:45am. Lucky me, DH is working from home tomorrow, so he can help me load everything up, then down to get Miss Nancy and Anne and we are off!!
