In the mail....

Lorraine has probably thought I forgot about her. I promised to get these made last week and in the mail, but that didn't happen. I could give you lots of excuses reasons....but none of them would be true. I just plain didn't get my butt to the sewing room and make them.

Well, as of this morning, they are in the hands of the post office. Watch the mailbox Lorraine!!

I really like this pattern, very quick to make up and can be used for so many things... Great for those of us with zipperphobia...

In my hoop.....

At a quilt show last fall I saw a snowman embroidery displayed by one of the local shops. It was cute as far as snowmen go, but what really caught my eye was that the stitching was done on polka dots. When we made the rounds of the shops I found some great polka dot fabric and got about 3 yards thinking I would do some stitching. Of course I had no pattern in mind, and I was still stitching those redwork baskets, but that polka dot fabric sat patiently on my cutting table just waiting for it's moment. I finally started a new pattern last week and grabbed that polka dot fabric for the background. What do you think?? The pattern is called Love and Laughter by Kathy Schmitz. Clicking on THIS link will take you to her patterns at Colonial Crafts. Be aware of one thing. She does her patterns a bit diffferently than other designers. Her pattern pieces are printed in reverse. Her instructions say to scan the pattern pieces into your computer, print them onto freezer paper and iron that to the back of the fabric. I took mine to the local UPS store and had them mirror image print it, and just used my light box. Just so you know... The photo is clickable to make it larger... Sorry it's so wrinkled. I use water soluable markers so I can't press it....



And last weekend we had a set of grandkids. O and A had a great time with the lego's. A always wants her photo taken with her "tall towders". We won't see them at Easter so I sent them home with big Easter bags full of SUGAR!! And coloring books, sparkle crayons, cotton candy, bubble gum eggs etc....oh and for some balance I added some yogurt raisins..LOL

I'll be sleeping with Superman....

I am really looking forward to Paducah this year. My sister-in-law was the person responsible for getting me interested in this wonderful hobby. She invited me to Paducah one year and I haven't looked back since. We normally take a bus from the LQS and let Greyhound do the driving.

The Hotel was put up for sale last year and there was some talk about the show being cancelled. Which would be a shame as this is the 25th Anniversary. I am happy to say that the show will go on and you can see some of the renovations to the convention center here...
Check it out. It sounds like it will be less walking this year and I'm all for that!!

And this year, we decided to stay over one night and maybe see the whole show...

So I will be sleeping in Metropolis with Superman....

It all started Tuesday...

The Rock Star came home after school and ASKED if I would call and make him a hair appointment. Which I did just as soon as I got up off the floor. Thursday 4pm. I wrote it on the calendar and then promptly forgot about it. At 3pm yesterday he walked in, grabbed a snack and said "Hey, did you go in and pay for my haircut today?"

um....no...

"But" I said, "It's hardly worth paying for since they actually cut about a inth of an inch".

"wellllll....I'm thinkin of gettin it cut really short"

"yea, you don't have the BALLS to do that!!" I yelled...LOL and then I handed him my debit card...

Seems he was thinking really hard and my words put him over the edge...

Next time I will yell

"Yea, YOU DON'T HAVE THE BALLS TO GET A JOB"...............

Redwork....and Spring Swap....

I did it!! I got off my butt and put both borders on my baskets. I need to show Chris tomorrow. Her shop Patches is where the redwork club meets and she and her staff helped me pick out the border fabric. I think it is perfect. I bought a red/white floral for the backing and as soon as I can find some warm and white I will quilt it myself....




And what is this pretty package? My contribution to the Spring Swap hosted by the lovely Linda. It will be mailed tomorrow to someone??? somewhere?? Could it be YOU??? Don't be fooled by the size. I am a good folder and packer and there is LOTS in there...LOL After it has been received I will share a photo of the items I sent or a link to the blog if photos are posted there...

Was it an April Fools....

The phone rang at 6:10 this morning. DH is on the road again and he was checking in... Hmm...It's totally quiet in here? No shower going? UH OH.....the Rock Star isn't up for school. I ran down the hall, threw open the door and said "Hey, did you forget to set your alarm? It's 6:10am....!! " He jumped up and got into the shower and I headed down to make him his new favorite breakfast. A fried egg on wheat bagel. With a side of milk....

He came down 15 minutes later and confessed that after he got into the shower, he wondered if I had gotten him up EARLY and was going to yell "April Fools".... LOL NO!! It's really 6:30..
Guess I need to have a little sumpin for after school. I could clean his room? clean his bathroom? That sure would surprise him.... Or maybe tell him we are having chicken for dinner! He HATES chicken (and pork and beef)...

Some of you may know that I watch a couple of neighbor kids for about an hour after school. Yesterday I found a link to some good April Fool jokes. I printed out a cool word search game for them. It had a list of words to find including the word April Fools. Of course the only words actually IN the search that can be found are APRIL FOOLS....They looked and looked and finally asked me for help. They are 8 and 9, so to ask a grownup for anything was hard...lol I told them to keep looking, gave them a couple of hints, and just kept doing my embroidery...
FINALLY, they gave up!! I said, "How many words did you find?". "only one,"they said "APRIL FOOLS" is the only word we can find. I just stared at them for a minute and then they got it!! They thought is was funny and Maddy wanted to print another one for a friend at school.
While we were there, we also printed off a Fake IRS letter and a Fake field trip permission letter for a trip to Jupitor.... Here's the link if you have little ones in the house...
There is a fake parking ticket that just might find itself on the Rock Star's car tomorrow morning...LOL

Any good April Fools jokes out there that have backfired on you?

Will be doing some cooking today. Anne, Miss Nancy and I are doing the program at Redwork Club tomorrow and I volunteered to do the food. (That keeps me from having to talk, something I HATE to do) .

Will also be doing some sewing. I really want to get the borders on the redwork quilt so I can show n tell tomorrow.
