Special Announcement...and some ramblings...

This Friday is Earth Day and Starbucks is offering you a free coffee or tea .... just take a refillable cup...

Today is my last hand piecing class..and I don't have my homework done.  I have "most" of the block finished so maybe I won't get into too much trouble..

Scary storms blew (literally) through here last night. We had lots of wind, rain and some smallish size hail. Not too far north 2 confirmed tornado's touched down and there was some damage...  I am so glad we were spared...

I am off to JoAnns today to get some more of those blue/green dots by DS... but not for me...I am enabling a fellow Modern Quilt Guild member...

woops...need to get off and get dressed..

Will show you my hand piecing when I get back..

i drank the kool-aid...

And it was good!!

Yesterday the hubby bought a truck and since I wasn't home he of course didn't remember the
extra keys or some notarized paper and one of the books to the old truck...
So I could have just put them into the mail...

But then I remembered that I had to go to the mall to get the grandson two summer outfits for his birthday cause that's what I got his sister (along with a fun thing) and he remembers what we got her so I need to make sure he gets the same number of items...lol

And guess what sits right smack between the car dealer and the mall?

yep...

The Kool-Aid stand...otherwise known as JoAnns.

And look what fell into my arms...

More Picnic and Fairgrounds... I have no idea which collection is which... but I picked the four I liked the best and got full yards, well, except for the pink and red dots...that's two yards...cause I had a 50% off coupon so really I got a yard of dots for free...

And yes, Kristy...the kool-aid was great!!

I bought 1/2 yard cuts...but I think I need some more of the dots..

why....

why am i the only one in the house that knows how to add a roll of toilet paper to the holder?

why am i the only one that remembers it's trash day?

why am i the only one that can "hear" the dog get into something he isn't supposed to?  like the trash can

why do "they" think i carry an inventory of the fridge in my head?

Just a few of the things I think about while doing this....

block one

block two

the start of block three... (no I didn't sew that crooked, the lighter fabric is folded in half...
This block is called Fox Star...I am pretty sure that it was named after the quilt shop and probably has another name, although I don't know it.  This has Y seams and I will do this block to learn that technique...it will not however end up in the table runner as I don't like samplers and won't have three different blocks...
(BTW, did you know that according to language rules you are to spell out numbers from one to ten and starting at 11 you can use numbers....yea, me neither)

So today is errand day and laundry day and getting all ready for Quilt Guild tomorrow...  I need to cut out the rest of that block so I can sew while I listen....

And of course this weekend I will be at the "other house"... we are still working in the master bathroom..this weekend will be vanity, sink, faucets and toilet and a door... and probably some painting...

And we are thinking of floors right now...my sewing room and the laundry area are connected by a long hall.  We don't want to spend the money on Laminate flooring and when we started looking at vinyl we were shocked that it cost just as much to have someone install it as it is to buy it.  We can't install vinyl...we have done it once in a small bathroom and we struggled...we got it done, but I know we can't handle 700 sq feet of vinyl...  Any thoughts??  We have been looking at this kind of floor.. do you think it would work?  We actually did this to our garage floor here...and it worked out really well...and five years later it is still looking great even with my car sitting on it every day...

so i guess i need to get those pieces cut...

Tuesday is trash nght...

Every Tuesday night I walk around the house with a trash bag and empty all the extra trash cans.  Three bathrooms and the sewing room are emptied...and I occasionally will check the Son's room although last night the door was closed and it's probably best I leave it that way.. I did however go into the sewing room to empty the big can in there...and I found this...

I needed a plastic tote for my hand sewing and without thinking I trashed all my wool...

Then I got to thinking that even though I won't ever use it maybe some of you use wool?  I can't tell you what kind of wool this is...heck, for all I know it could be felt...lol  I bought it all for a class with Pat Sloan a long time ago and used what I needed and never used any more...

Want it?

Tell me!

If more than one of you answer I will use Mr Random Generator...let's see...I'll leave it out there until next week sometime...

Today is the second hand piecing class...hope I don't get sent to the principals office...

I usually follow the rules...

I finished my homework...  I started my hand piecing classes last week and thoroughly enjoyed it..  We learned what tools to use and why..and like any good student I bought new pins and was surprised to know that two tools I had purchased in Paducah a couple of years ago now have a use.   One is the Bohin White Chalk Marking Pencil.  It is compressed chalk that comes in 4 colors and is always a sharp point and comes out by brushing it off the fabric or it washes out. ( of course with any marker, please test on your fabric first..) and the other was.....um...i don't remember...  I also get to start using all the pin cushions I have received in swaps and for gifts over the past few years...

We were given a pattern and I got one of the half square triangles pieced before class was over.  I finished it a few minutes ago....

Wanna bet I'll get in trouble??  The block we were given was card trick...this block is not card trick...
Do you think the teacher will notice?
