Yesterday I took a trip to a wonderful Quilt/Writing Studio. Ann Hazelwood is the former owner of a local quilt shop called Patches on Main Street in old town St Charles. She owned the shop for over 30 years and this year decided to sell and devote her time to writing, teaching and quilt appraisal. She is currently writing her third book.
She invited the Redwork Club to meet this month in her new studio. She writes and quilts in the basement while he has his office upstairs. She says they practically live there...After seeing these photos, you might want to move in also...
The Redwork Club.
This quilt is from Ann's book called Polka Dot. It is out of print now and very hard to find. I have one....lol
There was no information on this quilt and I forgot to ask Ann about it. It is a whole cloth quilt with the birds hand appliqued with some embroidery accents.
And this is Ann with the small wall hanging we surprised her with. We all embroidered our names and then Waunetha embroidered the center panel, pieced the quilt and finished it...Ann was overcome with tears.
The following photo is not part of Ann's studio. This redwork portrait was done by Waunetha (the same one that did the wallhanging). She is an extraordinary redwork artist. Please click the photo to make it larger. The eyes are amazing. This is her husband as a little boy.
I hope you have enjoyed the tour. We will be meeting here again in July.
Today is grocery shopping and dog bathing day...AND DH is working from home..that always throws off my schedule..LOL
Happy Sewing, (I am working on two secret projects, sneak peaks hopefully tomorrow)
