Tuesday Talk....

Nothing....as in NO-THING is going on here. Last Friday we took off early and headed out to look at some land. Our hope is was to find a bit of acreage to retire on. After a day of looking we have changed our plans and won't be doing anything until closer to retirement. We do still have the Rock Star that (fingers crossed) will graduate next May.

The weekend was quiet and yesterday was Quilt Guild. Our vice-president resigned to take a full time job and I was voted on and installed yesterday as the new vice-president. Where upon I was immediately told I was responsible for all the programs for the next 12 months. YIKES!! I have June, July, and August set, so now I have to start working on Sept,Oct and then Jan - May....We don't have a meeting in November as it is too close to Thanksgiving and December is our Christmas Party.
I have two members working on a couple of classes, but really need to figure out some more stuff.... I could use some ideas? I am in NorthEast Missouri so if someone knows anyone that teaches around here, email me?? Or if you have something that you have done at your guild meeting that was fun....

Today I turn into a cleaning lady for my Mom. She is out of town so it will be nice for her to return to a nice, clean house and I get a little fabric/fun money..

Tomorrow I will hopefully have a new project to show off. I took a class last Thursday night which was really fun...

Happy Sewing,
Nancy

Wow you have a big responsibility. I don't know if someone has already done this, but could you have someone from Quilts of Valor come and speak to your group? They really seem to be needing and asking for more quilts. Also there may be nearby that could speak on restoring old/antique quilts and how to care for them. Maybe even do quilt appraisals. Hope that helps a little ;-)

I am just finishing up a 2 year stint as Program Co-Chair for my guild. One of the the favorite Program things that we do is a program called "Journeys". We have 3 members talk and show/tell their stories about their quilt journey. It is really fun to see their progress as a quilter. It doesn't cost anything and we all love it. We do bring in local and national quilters also, but since I am in MA no one that I mention would be local to you. In April '08 we did have Pat Sloan.

In January and February, we don't like top pay for a speaker as the weather is too iffy. We either get together to make quilts for a charity project or do some type of mini-workshops. We might have someone teaching redwork, applique, how to make prairie points, bias binding, etc. We split everyone up into 5 -6 groups and then rotate the groups every 10 - 15 minutes. It's a lot of fun. Hope that this helps.

Oh, my goodness...you do have your work cut out for you. I'll try to recall any fun programs we have had and will tell you...if I can think of them.
