tilt your head to the left....

Or to the right. Doesn't matter. I finished the last two First Saturday blocks this past weekend. They are the ones at the end of the first and second row. These are not in any order and I haven't decided how I will sash these. They will be 3 across and 4 down, but my design wall won't hold them that way. Any ideas? I don't have any matching fabrics, but I have quite a stash of 30's so I could make cornerstones... that either match each other or not.

We all had a wonderful time at our mini-retreat. We left Thursday and came back earlier than planned on Saturday. We did stop at a quilt shop on the way home and I got a new magazine and some triangle paper. No plans for the triangles, but you never know when it might be bad weather and you just HAVE to make triangles... well, I am ready..

I am off to spend the day with bitty. Daycare is closed for a funeral. (oh, that sounds bad...bitty goes to a private run day care and the owners uncle passed away).. So we will play, go to the quilt store, have some lunch, take a nap and play some more. Fun day!

One day this week there is gonna be a contest. Consider yourself warned...

I'd go with the cornerstones but whether they should match or not is too difficult a design question for me. I guess I'd say match but I'm not sure that's the wight answer. Some kind of a border would be good too but again, I'm not sure what. Maybe a piano one. Maybe even piano sashing - I'm making these terms up as I go along!

Those are big blocks! What size are they? I think the cornerstones that don't match would be great. Have you decided what to sash it with?

Nancy great that you got the blocks completed for the BOM so quickly. I always tend to dely making the final block. I think different corner stone squares would be great with perhaps white strips on either side of a 30s print for sashing. Most of all, have fun working on it.

Your blocks look great. I don't think they have to be in any particular order. I have mine sashed with 30s reproduction fabrics around each block and then I am going to put white sashing between the blocks and the between each row. These are going to be fun and cheerful quilts. Glad you enjoyed your mini retreat. Have fun with Bitty.

Have a great day.

Oh my you know we had a funeral at the daycare, which is in the church about a week ago. They happen to be taking the body out the same time we were taking the kids out to put them in the cars. Not good timing at all.
Did you say a contest???? I'm ready!!

OH, my....I am not a good one to decide on sashing or no-sashing...cornerstones or no-cornerstones. The fabrics do look like they'd go well with 30's fabric as cornerstones....but I also like cornerstones that match some of the fabrics already in the quilt. Gee...I'm no help at all...so forget I said anything!!!

I like it best when I tilt to the right. LOL I love it Nancy. I think mismatched cornerstones would be perfect. I can't wait to see what you decide.

I just finished mine up (not the same blocks, just a First Friday sampler from the LQS) and thought the setting was pretty. You can see it on my blog, the May 19th post.
