Road trip....

OMG.....It's Saturday and I am awake at 5am, showered, dressed and out the door by 6am...

Where am I going?

From one side of Missouri to the other and back again? Why? To pick up this little darling granddaughter from her Mommy. And keep her until Tuesday. My son-in-laws father passed away early Friday morning. They took off Thursday night taking Abbie with them, but decided that she really needed some Grandma time, so she is MINE! All Mine! LOL It's up to 70 here so hopefully we will get to the park tomorrow to play on the swings. She's still a wee bit young to get up the slide...
She looks just like her mother at this age.

On the way up to Kansas City, DH spotted a sign for a quilt shop. He mentioned it to me, but knowing we would have granddaughter on the way back, I quickly put it out of mind. DH didn't... and on the way back he pulled a little detour and we ended up here -

It sure didn't take long to do some quick grabbing and I came home with these..

A couple of half yards...

And some fat quarters. One of these will be included in my package for my Spring Swap that Linda is hosting.

And halfway home, I realized THIS -

But I didn't worry, cause DH reminded me that I have another pair here at home just like it....LOL

It is 4pm and we are finally home. Abbie is playing and talking up a storm. Of course I have NO IDEA what she is saying...lol I can hear Mommy and Daddy and she says ruff, ruff if you ask her what the puppy says.

No sewing will be going on this weekend. Abbie will be sleeping in the sewing room...

Happy Sewing to you,
Nancy

How fun for you to get Abbie! For sad reasons I know but am sure you are feeling the benefit. You sound so much like me, i would also have another pair of the shoes, ha. And my hubby would have pulled off to a quilt shop without telling me as well! We're lucky gals.

What fun. I know you will enjoy having Abbie for the weekend.

And I had to laugh at your shoes. When one is in a hurry we don't always see clearly.

You have a keeper hubby. Just like mine. He is always thinking of sweet things. My dh gave me a trip to Paducah last year for a Christmas present! I was so floored.

Hope you enjoy your sweet baby hugs.

Have a super fun time with Abbie. She is a real doll-baby! That is TOO funny about the shoes, though. I'm sure nobody but you noticed!!! LOL Nice fabrics, too....and your DH is like mine and would love to find me quilt shops I'd not yet discovered!

Enjoy your time with Abbie...! When I find comfy shoes that I like I often buy them in a couple of colours....getting dressed in the early morning can have it's downside! Nice little visit to the quilt shop too.....my partner would have made the time to stop as well...lucky us!

That's a road trip and a half, nice of dh to stop for you, and such great buys. Had a really good laugh at your footwear..... it must have been early and no glass's when you put them on.

You are so fortunate to have a grandchild! Enjoy every second of the visit. That is so funny about your shoes. I have done the same thing in the past.

Have fun, Nancy! I am so jealous of you - I've just been really missing my grandkids these last few days. I love the picture of the shoes - that is precious.

Here I thought I was the only one that did not match there shoes. A person at work pointed it out to me one day. Then a few weeks later I pointed out she did the same thing.

Love the fabric. Looks like it's from Mark's line. Love it!! I might have to take a road trip.
