The Quilt Show revealed....

We arrived at 9:45am and were second in line. Enjoy all the photos....I will only comment on a couple of them as the stories were so interesting...

The first quilt had the following information on the label. "This quilt was started in 1943 as I traveled by train from Missouri to California to meet my fiance who was in the service. I finished it on that trip, but it wasn't quilted until 1986". If you click to make the photo bigger, maybe you can tell it is NOT applique. It is ALL cross stitch.

The one above is the quilters first quilt. She called it "Rail Fence of Mistakes". She indicated that it had a thousand mistakes in it, although we couldn't find any of them.

What can I say. I live in St Louis, Miss Nancy's DH is an AVID fan of the StLC so this photo is for Lloyd...

Here is the label for the quilt above. I wanted to have this photo here so you can see how small the squares are for this quilt and to understand that it is based on a computer generated photo and made with all of her hand dyed fabrics. What was very surprising was that when you stood in front of the quilt it wasn't all that amazing looking. We thought, wow ok she made all the little points meet and she used hand dyed fabric. THEN, I took a photo and we could see how it Really Looked!! AMAZING...

Hope you enjoyed the quilt show. I will be back tomorrow to show you what I bought...

Happy Sewing,
Nancy

The quilt made with the tye died fabric would have given me a HUGE headache just looking at it up close let alone making it. But I wonder how much she "blew up" the computerized pic to get the pixelation like that. It is awesome, but I'd rather have something that more looks like something.
